Quick – where are the greatest numbers of lost people located in the world?
China and India top the list, Indonesia is third.
Fourth place? That would be North America – where you live!
Total population of the U.S. and Canada today is about 323 million.
Some 255 million of these people are unchurched and lost, having no personal relationship with Christ. That’s 229 million lost people in the U.S. and 26 million in Canada.
These 255 million lost people are divided into some 600 people groups, with distinctive languages and cultures. More than 50 million Americans speak a non-English language at home.
North America is the only continent in which Christianity is not growing.
Big sections of North America have no evangelical churches. For example, 25 school districts in Wisconsin have no evangelical churches at all. More than 850 cities and towns in eastern Canada have no evangelical church of any kind.
By 2050 the U.S. population will total 438 million; 82 percent of that increase will be among immigrants and their U.S.- born descendents. Sixty percent of that population will be Hispanic.
Meanwhile, eight of 10 evangelical churches are declining. The fastest-growing religious group in the U.S. may well be the “no religion” group, up 20 million since 1990.
It’s time Christ-follower, it’s time to cross the cultures of North America with the Gospel of Christ. Together, sharing Christ we can change the cultures of our world!
