The Office of Great Commission Partnerships (GCP) exists to assist North Carolina Baptist churches and associations in developing, implementing and maintaining an effective missional strategy. An effective missional strategy is designed to reach unreached and underserved people in the local community, North Carolina, North America and the world.
To help North Carolina Baptist churches accomplish this task, GCP will focus on four key strategies:
Global Impact Networks – Assisting Convention churches in developing Global Impact Networks. These networks will become points of connection for local congregations to partner with other congregations, the BSCNC, the North American Mission Board, the International Mission Board and other evangelical groups for the purpose of impacting unreached/underserved people groups of the world.
Next Generation Leadership Development – Proactively working toward the missional development of next generation leaders. To do this we must engage high school, college and seminary students in an intentional missional leadership development strategy. Using forums, mentoring and mobilization points, GCP will create environments in which students can experience and hear God’s call to reach the nations.
Develop Pastors as Missions Strategists – Developing local church pastors as missions strategists utilizing the leadership of pastors across the state who are leading effective Great Commission work. A missions strategist will be equipped to read the spiritual landscape of his community and to develop a comprehensive missions strategy to reach the unreached and underserved people groups of his community, state, nation and world.
GCP Strategy Development Teams – While the Office of Great Commission Partnerships will be the catalyst for partnerships, it will take the resources and giftedness of the entire Convention to bring about the purposes explained above. GCP will create Strategy Development Teams as needed, comprised of Convention program consultants, to develop specific strategies, provide coaching on effective methodologies, engage in leadership development and guide Convention resources to ensure a successful partnership.
